Just a Shorty

Well I wanted to let you know that I am still around and kicking! Mommy has been sick since Sunday night so you know what that means....NO TIME ON THE COMPUTER!!! Really people, I've never seen her lay around like she has the past few days. I don't know what the deal is, but thank goodness daddy was off work yesterday and somebody could play with me. I knew something was up the minute she let me have my cheese puffs before dinner time AND she let me throw them all over the floor...AND THEN SHE JUST WATCHED ME LOOK AT THEM AND THEN AT HER BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T MOVE!
I am happy to say she is on the upswing of the situation and that hopefully by this time tomorrow she will be 100%! I mean, I had some great times with daddy. We went to Meijer and we picked out a movie for mommy to watch, and he made me spaghetti, and he got me dressed, and he got my diaper bag ready, and he filled up my sippy cup lots of times, and he played with me a whole lot, and he checked on mommy a bunch, and he did dishes and he chased me through the living room. It was really fun and I love daddy days, but seeing mommy laying there and not joining in was a bit concerning. The lady didn't even move when I tried to flip open her computer...sheesh, you know it is bad when that happens!!!
BUT...I think we are all going to have a great weekend and mommy will be just fine and I will have lots to write about!!!

Saturday in the Park

I will sure be glad when all my teeth are in. I think they were bothering me today and so I wasn't really quite as perky as most days. However, I did watch mommy and daddy clean with a capital C. They cleaned my room and you would not believe what all they worked on. They pulled the bed out, they flipped my mattress, they cleaned my stuffed animals...they did EVERYTHING! I watched and helped when I thought it was a good idea.
Then we did the same thing to the living room. They were pulling couches out and you would not believe the things that I've put under the couches and forgotten about! We worked really hard and I even helped with the sweeping!
I took a nap, but it wasn't a very long one. Grandpa and Grandma Penticuff came over to see me and we had a good time. We played at home for a while and I perked up some. I even helped grandma and daddy on the Wii Fit.
Then we decided to go to the park. I walked right up to the swings first. I liked swinging and then I got to help grandma eat a hamburger and some of a frosty. I was re energized after eating and it was time to play some more. I got to try out the merry go round and we walked and walked and walked and walked by the river. I didn't want any help because, remember, I can do it by myself.
We finished up at the park and went to Rural King. Grandpa put me on a couple of John Deere tractors (kid size of course) and me and grandma checked the place out. It is a really big store! They didn't seem to have much air conditioning though, so we decided to not look at the whole place.
We had to tell grandma and grandpa bye and daddy and mommy brought me home. I was so tired so I got a quick big girl shower and hit the bed! Man, even not feeling 100% I had a busy day!

Happy Friday

Today was a wonderful day! I got up, me and mommy went to the beauty shop and I walked all around the whole place a bunch of times. I haven't been there in a while and so I really had to check the place out. Grandma Filler and Jenney got hair cuts and color, mommy got her eyebrows done and I got to spin in the chairs!! It was great.
Then me and mommy met grandma and Jenney at Eatsa Pizza. I ate a very good lunch of noodles, meatballs, pizza and breadsticks and then I got to play games. I now have a new favorite. I don't know what it is called, but you push a button and a ball drops from the sky and goes into little holes. Then you get a bunch of tickets. I won a whole lot and these really nice guys gave me all the tickets they won, too. I had so many that I got a bracelet, necklace and a rattle!!!!
After that we came home at exactly my nap time. I took a great nap...I slept 2 1/2 hours. I haven't done that in a while. When I got up my whole family played. Daddy doesn't have to work this weekend so he got to play with me and mommy. I had some dinner, but not much. I really only wanted some oranges and a bit of bread.
When I finished we went to Uncle Greg and Aunt Debbie's house and went swimming!! I wore a different swim suit today. It is one that Grandma Penticuff got me when she was on vacation. I played in the pull with Greg. We passed a ball back and forth. Then me and Debbie had some real fun. Mommy and daddy swam, too. Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma Sorrell came over to see me! Besides the pool, I really enjoyed playing with Debbie's wind chimes!
I had a bit of a snack at their house and then it was almost bed time!!! We changed clothes and told everybody night and then we came home. I stayed up just a few minutes and then I hit the bed! What a big day. I've got lots of pictures for you to see. My favorite is of daddy chasing me and then me shutting the door on him!!! I thought that was SUPER FUNNY!

I CAN DO IT!

Mommy says she is getting me a shirt that says, "I SAID, I CAN DO IT!" That is how I feel now. I don't need any help from anybody to do anything. I mean it, I really could be self sufficient if people would just let me be! Well, I'm still very sweet, but I just get very irritated when people don't see that I can do it!
This morning I got up and mommy gave me my breakfast. She has learned that I don't want to eat cereal that she gives me, so she bought me cereal bars. So I walk around and eat my cereal bar and drink my milk. (My parents finally found a suitable sippy cup for my milk.) Then I played and got dressed. We decided to go to the mall.
I walked to the car by myself, however my mother kept making me hold her hand! I would have eventually made it to the car by myself, I just wanted to take a few detours. So we went to the mall and everything was fine for a few minutes. Then I remembered that, "I CAN DO IT," and I got out of my stroller and walked. Then I saw mommy pushing my stroller and remembered, "I CAN DO IT," and so I took the stroller away and rolled it myself. (Daddy looked pretty silly bent over following me with my stroller!!)
I saw a display of sunglasses and remembered again, "I CAN DO IT," so I took a bunch off of the display and threw them on the ground. THEN DADDY REMEMBERED THAT HE CAN DO IT AND PICKED ME UP AND TOOK ME OUT OF THE MALL!!! It was just a slight set back.
We came home and I was so tired that I actually let mommy give me some ham and bread. Then it was time for a nap. I didn't like that idea and I yelled and yelled. I finally slept for a few minutes and then yelled some more.
I got to take a shower and play and play. Then daddy went to work and me and mommy just kept playing. I did let her make me some dinner. We had noodles and oranges and toast with jelly. We were going to have rolls but mommy couldn't get the tube opened...so I settled for toast.
Then I remembered again, "I CAN DO IT," so I went to the bathroom and pulled up the lid on the toilet. Mommy said, "NO." I gave her a dirty look and walked into my bedroom and put my hands on the humidifier that I know I'm not supposed to touch. I looked at mommy again and she said, "NO!" So I gave her another look and walked over to the diaper genie that I am also not supposed to open. I opened the lid and kept my eyes on mommy. She said, "NO!" again and I gave her a piece of my mind. All I was missing was hands on my hips, but I haven't learned how to do that yet.
I decided to be sweet again and we played some more. Grandma and Grandpa Filler came by for a few minutes and I showed them my brand new sippy cup. I also showed grandpa that I can crawl under the table and try to get in the outlets. GUESS WHAT I HEARD AGAIN?!?!! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Wait till I can say that word...It will be my favorite! Well I played with grandpa and grandma and then they had to go home. Me and mommy cleaned up my room a little bit and then I went to bed.
I really didn't put up a fight because I kind of felt sorry for mommy. I did a really good job at bed time. Hopefully everybody will remember tomorrow that I CAN DO IT! Oh...here is a picture of me showing everybody that I CAN DO IT!

Stinkin' Teeth

Well I don't have much to report today except that there is a big, giant, huge tooth coming in the back of my mouth! It is really uncomfortable and so some of my days haven't been the greatest. I AM off all of my bottles except for the one before bed. I think mommy is going to take that one away soon, but she has felt sorry for me because of my stinkin' teeth so I have gotten it the last 2 nights!
Tomorrow I get my picture taken with mommy and daddy. That will be fun. I'm still deciding if I will smile or not....hmmm......don't know.
Do you like my new background? I thought a ONE YEAR OLD needed something new.

Having a Ball

I'm having a really good weekend. It has been busy, full of stuff to do, and I love it!!! I know one day next week will be declared a pj day because this week has been so crazy, but right now I am just having a ball.
My highlight of yesterday was being allowed to feed myself dinner. Sloppy joes, oranges, a little cucumber and milk. You would not believe WHERE I can get food stuck!! In my hair, on my feet, behind my ears....yep, it was nice. I just really want to learn to use a spoon all by myself and I think it might take time to figure it all out.
Today was a little bit different. I got up and played with mommy for a little bit, ate breakfast and then headed to Grandma and Grandpa Filler's house. Mommy had a meeting this morning to talk about the basketball league that will be staring this winter. I got to put water in the bird feeder and I got to see Granny Conner (who brought me a beautiful purse and a rootbeer mug from her trip) and then I had some lunch.
Then I came home and spent time with daddy! I took a great nap and when I got up Tabatha was here to spend a little bit with me. Mommy had ANOTHER meeting in the afternoon about the new children's program!!! I had fun with Tabatha and you won't believe what happened next.
Mommy came home and Uncle Jeff and Aunt Lesa came over to get Tabatha. They invited me and mommy to go to EATSA PIZZA with them. It was so busy and I got a TON of people watching in!!! Lesa showed me how to suck up a long string of spaghetti and some man stopped and told me I should be on America's Funniest Videos!
Then me and Tabatha played some games. I watched Tabatha and I actually got to play a little skee ball!!! It was fun. After that we went to the Conner house for a little bit. I'm getting better with the dogs, but I am still not quite best friends with them!!! I helped Lesa a bunch. I showed her all the stuff she has to move because Mason will be getting into them soon! I had her on her toes and then she helped me play the piano.
I realized that it was getting late and told mommy we should come home because tomorrow is church! I came home, had a bath and hit the bed!!! I can't wait to go see my friends at church tomorrow!

Difference of Opinion

Today I want to talk about having a different opinion than my parents. It seems to be happening more and more these days. First of all, I really enjoy a nice bottle of milk 3 times a day. My parents are TRYING (oh, yes, I say trying because they haven't succeeded) to take those bottles away and replace the bottle with a sippie cup during the day. I LIKE MY BOTTLE!
Next, my parents are TRYING to make me sit down while I eat. I really enjoy getting a bite and going for a walk and then coming back when I want another bite. WHY MUST I BE RESTRICTED TO A SEAT??? I had to sit down at lunch time in my high chair. Then at dinner, I had to plead with Grandma and Grandpa Filler to let me out of the high chair because my mommy kept saying, "NO." Funny how even grandma and grandpa listen to her...they were not helping me out!!! However I did enjoy the kids meal grandpa bought me from KFC.
AND LET ME NOT FORGET that my mom is not letting me go back to sleep in the morning and making me take my nap and bedtime at a certain time. WHAT IS HAPPENING PEOPLE?!? I've met stubborn people before, but this is a bit ridiculous! I am almost afraid of what will happen next. I just have a different opinion of how I should be enjoying my day and night. CAN WE SAY COMPROMISE?!?
Regardless of these differences I had a pretty good day. I hung out with mommy and daddy until about 2:00pm and then I went to see Grandma Filler and Levi. Poor Levi has another ear infection so we played together and he forgot all about it for a while! I got to go back to church while mommy was working and grandpa pulled me around in a wagon! It was real fun. I had dinner (the kids meal from KFC) and then we came home and I went to bed.
I almost forgot...do you like the outfit my Aunt Emily brought me from Texas?!?

Glorious Day

Today was just an all around glorious day! The weather was great and I kept busy, while still having time to relax! My morning started with mommy and daddy both being home...that is rare these days and I really liked it. We played a bit and I got dressed and before I knew it there was somebody at my door.
I walked over and it was my Aunt Emily! She came to play with me for a while before we went to lunch. I showed her a couple of my toys and then we headed over to Pizza King to meet Grandma Penticuff and Uncle Adam.
I had a great lunch. Bread sticks, gram crackers, a little bit of pizza and chicken fingers! Man my belly was FULL after I finished. Grandma showed me the video game that they have at Pizza King and we took some pictures and had a really nice time.
THEN we went to grandma's car and she had a present for me from Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky and my cousin Shannon. It was my very own soft chair. I really liked it and I even sat on it right away. It was great!
I didn't sit long because me, mommy, daddy and Aunt Emily headed to the hospital to visit my Great Grandma Sorrell. Don't worry, we think she is doing okay but she had a fall this morning at her house and so we just want to make sure everything is okay! I was such a good girl at the hospital and I loved the window in her room! I think I brightened her day and then we had to come home for my nap.
I slept for 2 whole hours, got up and headed to Grandpa and Grandma Filler's with mommy. We had a quick dinner and then headed to church so mommy and the girls could get ready for their meeting on Saturday.
I was so funny! I played in water, sat in a puddle of water, put my hands in red paint and walked all over the place. I talked to everybody and ate just a little bit and me and grandpa went EVERYWHERE in that place!
Then mommy was done and we headed home. Because mommy was cleaning out the church stuff, I got an old kids shirt. It is so big but as soon as grandma put it on me I was SOOO excited. I wore it home and kept it on when I sat in my chair to relax and watch a little bit of Olympics. Man, me and mommy LOVE the big bald guy that plays volleyball. He really catches my attention!!! Doesn't it sound like a great day???

You Know How It Is

You know how it is...you turn one, you are feeling pretty great about life, you are walking around and getting into everything...and then BAM, shots. That is right...you go to the doctor and they give you shots. Chicken Pox shots, MMR shots, Hepatitis shots...Man, enough of the shots!!! All I can tell you is that me and mommy have been seriously busy since my birthday.
Wednesday I turned the big 1, Thursday I went to the state fair with mommy, my Aunt Emily and Grandma Penticuff. Friday I went to the doctor's office and got shots, Saturday I had an "episode" due to shots (some call it crankiness..I call it an episode). Today was church and it was a full day. Church and Sunday School, lunch at Wendy's, nap, mommy's meeting, and church again. Then we watered Aunt Clata's flowers and headed home for dinner, bath and bed.
I asked mommy today when life was going to be back to normal and she didn't really have a great answer for me. Man, Aunt Sara and Levi have been super busy, too. I did finally get to see him this weekend and I told him to ask his mommy when things were going to get back to normal for them, too. I don't know his answer yet, but I bet it is about like my mommy's answer!!!
Just to give you the 4-1-1...I had a great time at the state fair. I saw pigs and sheep and mules and horses and bunnies and chickens and roosters and balloons and lots of people. I'm gonna have to go check out Hadley's farm one of these days because I really did like the pigs and her daddy takes care of LOTS of them. The bunnies were cool, but not as cool as cats because cats have long tails to chase.
I also LOVE THE OLYMPICS! Yesterday I stopped everything, sat on the floor with my snack and watched volleyball. I said, "BALL" about 100 times and watched team USA play. Mommy said I really looked like a little person. I'm not so interested in swimming yet, but I did watch a little of the gymnastics. Mommy says I can try that one of these days and I said I already do when I dive bomb in my crib.
I promise to try and write more this week!!! We've been slacking BIG TIME! I'll try to do much better.

Wow, I had a great birthday! I got to eat at Eatsa Pizza (kind of like Chucky Cheese) and played my first video game. I earned 4 tickets I was so good!!!! Here are a few pictures from my last few days. As you can see, I am one busy lady...but I'll give you all the details tomorrow. I'm so tired from my birthday!!!!! You gotta get lots of sleep when you are one year old!!!

CELEBRATION #2

Today was another big birthday day! I got up and played with mommy and daddy, took a bath and then helped mommy and daddy get ready for my party. I took a good nap and then we went and picked up my cake. Daddy started putting together my present from him and mommy and I looked up to see my Aunt Emily! I haven't seen her since March and she came to Muncie for my birthday! She lives in Texas and I was so surprised to see her! It didn't take me long to warm back up to her and we played and played.
Before I knew it, people were arriving for my party! We had dinner (the grown ups ate taco salad made by Grandma Penticuff and I had mac & cheese). I kept everybody entertained at dinner. I waved at people at different tables and I talked and i played with grandpa and I waved some more!
After dinner I got to open presents! I sat in my chair (we borrowed it from Granny Conner's house) and mommy helped me. I was very interested in the cards people gave me. I read them just like they were books!! I got lots of pretty stuff. Lots of clothes and my grandpa got me a barnyard bowling game and a tee-ball game. I really liked those. I got a baby doll and I got a stuffed polar bear that I gave lots of kisses. My Grammy Douglas made me a pair of overalls with the number one on them and she also made me a jacket that says, "DOUGLAS 1" on the back. I got a picture book from Grandpa and Grandma Penticuff with lots of pictures of me in it!! I even got my own fold up chair that looks like my mommy and daddy's but it is pink. It is like the ones they take to granny's house when we have a cook out!
After presents I got to play in ANOTHER cake!!! This time I didn't make near the mess...however I did put my whole mouth on it! The grown ups ate cake and I just played and played. My cousin Alex is 4 and he played with me a bunch. We both liked the rocking car that mommy and daddy got me.
After all the festivities I was TIRED!!! I got ready for bed and it only took me a few seconds to fall asleep!!! I could write more but I'll let the pictures do the talking for me!
