Christmas Break

Christmas break has officially begun at the Douglas place. Daddy finished working Wednesday night and Thursday morning we went to the annual faculity/staff breakfast at his work. It was so much fun! Not only did daddy's bosses make us breakfast, but I got to play with my pal Sophie (who I usually only see at the Academy shindigs). We gave lots of hugs to each other and ran all around the lounge. We also made a new friend named Jack. He is an older fella, he is almost 6 years old! He played pool with me and he let me and Sophie chase him around. I took a few small breaks to eat blueberries, but most of the time I was playing and entertaining the adults.
So at the end of breakfast all the "Academy Babies" as we are so lovingly called were supposed to get our pictures taken. Have you ever seen somebody try to get 7 toddlers to sit for a picture?? Well it seemed like really hard work! Mommy and Lizzy laughed, daddy tried to get us to laugh, and Vickie handled the camera. It was CRAZY, but we had a good time. Vickie even let me use the camera to take a picture of mommy & daddy!
Eventually we left and I headed out to see my doctor. We just wanted to make sure my cough that has been hanging on for five weeks is not a big deal. The doctor gave me some medicine, but said that everything looked really good. So I am now going to take some medicine to help me not cough throughout the night. I took it before nap time yesterday and it really helped me sleep.
Last night our friend Lizzy came over for dinner. We had a really great time. I ate a little bit and did lots of playing. I went to bed, even though I kind of felt like the party was just starting when it was time to lay down!!
Today has been great, too! It has been pretty relaxed. We haven't had to do a TON...and we've just been hanging out together. We dropped off some mail at the post office, we saw grandma and pa at the church for alittle bit while mommy worked, and we picked up the last Christmas present on our list.
Tonight I think I will help mommy make dinner and then we'll watch my Tinkerbell movie and play with my trains. I might even go put on my pj's while we lounge around. I'm sure resting up is a good idea because I know next week will be a busy one!

Two Going On Twenty

Mamma: "Look, Lynley! It is Dora and her monkey."
Lynley: "Noo, Mommy. It is Boots the monkey. Boo - oots. Can you say Boots, mommy?"
*************************
Sitting at the dinner table, eating ham and mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans....
Lynley: "This gravy is very, very tasty!"
Ahhhh...the conversations we are having in the Douglas household these days!

New Beet In Town

I am BACK! This last little bit has been just a tad rough on mommy and myself! Our computer decided to stop working and so I couldn't write my memoirs, mommy couldn't catch up on facebook daily, neither of us could watch Thomas the Train on his website...it was REALLY ROUGH! But, after texts to Uncle Patrick (who diagnosed the problem) and after a visit from Uncle Jeff (who fixed the problem), we are BACK IN BUSINESS!
I'm still in the Christmas Spirit and enjoying every day to the fullest. The biggest news I have is that my favorite blanket, beet, went missing. Seriously, I am convinced that something horrid happened to him. Last Friday night I was packed and ready to go to grandma and pa's house for the night. Daddy was working, mommy had a thing at church with the kids, and I was happy as can be. Grandma went to unpack my bag.....and.....no beet!!!! Thankfully I was so tired that I went right to sleep, but the next day was a different story! Mommy tore our place apart, grandma and pa looked all over their house and there was just no beet. Mommy was sure it was going to be miserable for me for the rest of my life time.....and it might have been except my Uncle Lawrence came to the rescue!
Lawrence brought me a new beet. It was just like my old beet...just a different color and not torn up. For Saturday's nap I wasn't too sure if I was going to like the new guy...but by Saturday night I'd decided that this one fits right up at my face just like the old one did. Mommy was sure excited that Lawrence and Sara had an "extra" beet that they'd bought for Evan. You have to order them online and it would have taken lots of sleepless nights before I would have had one....and who knows if I would have liked the new one. My "new beet," as I lovingly call him, is special because he is a present from Uncle Lawrence. I tell mommy all the time, as I am carrying him around, that "new beet is from Uncle Lawrence."
The other really, really cool thing to share is that tonight me and mommy and grandma and pa went on a road trip. We drove FOREVER and ended up in a place called Fishers. I got to get out of my car seat and hang my head out the window while we drove through a drive-thru Christmas Light Show!!! It was GREAT! I saw trains, "happy monsters," airplanes, Baby Jesus, Santa and his reindeer, and ALL KINDS OF OTHER STUFF!!!! It was so much fun and pa drove through a bunch of times so I could take it all in. We had a fabulous time...and I was worried after the long drive that it wouldn't be worth it...but it DEFINITELY WAS!!
Oh, one more thing before I go for the night....my new favorite songs are Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Home on the Range. Yes, I am 2 years old and LOVE TO SING HOME ON THE RANGE!!!! Doesn't everyone love this song???

Catching Up

My goal is to update you EVERY DAY for the rest of this year! I have tons to catch you up on. Let me see, two weeks ago my daddy was off ALL WEEK for Thanksgiving break! That meant that me and mommy and daddy did lots of great stuff together. We did lots of shopping, took lots of little trips, celebrated thanksgiving FOUR times with family...the list goes on and on.
Also in that time I made a trip to the doctor to have some hives checked out. I had not been feeling quite 100% for a couple of days and then on Friday I ended up with very large hives on my legs. So I went to a doctor the night after Thanksgiving to have it checked out. I had my first EVER strep throat test and IT WAS HORRIBLE! It was rough for me and for mommy...and after the test we learned that I did NOT have strep throat! Evidently I just had a virus that required me to take some children's benedryl that helped me sleep REALLY WELL! It was just a little bump in my otherwise awesome week!
Last week was more of the same...great times! I had my pictures taken one day, I shopped some more for Christmas, I got lots of play time with daddy, I got a new coat, I ate at Carlos O'Kelly's a few times, etc....I've got some pictures to help catch you up and I'll write more later!

Let's Make a Deal

"Santa, if you bring me some Thomas the Train stuff and Garfield and Clifford, I will update my blog every day the rest of the year!!! Do we have a deal?"
